Hispanic theater often spoke on the issues with living multi-cultural lives, especially in the aspect of Chicano theater where even the language used was interchanged and mixed into what some call "Spanglish". It began from the arrival of Spanish conquistadors, and spread from various conquests. Cuban theater had a big impact on Hispanic theater due to plays being on Cuban and Spanish stages, eventually the Hispanic theater in NYC was created. Many of the first plays were religious and shown to native Americans during missions. Often the Hispanic theater as touched on before was split into three parts: Chicano, Cuban-American, and Nuyorican. Often these plays dealt with the struggle of Mexican immigrant in the united states, as well as that of conflict, weather internal or external between and Anglo culture and a Spanish culture. Groups like Juan de Onate's band of explorers were examples of the plays that dealt with religious contexts. Jorge Huerta creates the theater of Hope in Santa Barbra, who was a very stable group.
